The salaries of homeland security professionals vary widely throughout New York state. The supervisors of protective service workers had higher salaries than the median when these professionals were located in the central nonmetropolitan area of the state. They were paid a median salary of $61,820 in 2012.
In particular, information security analyst wages were highly variable in different cities. Those in the New York city area were paid a median salary of $113,500 with top earners making $173,240. Wages were typically lower in upstate New York. The top earners in Syracuse and Rochester earned $156,520 and $117,890 respectively.
Transportation security screeners generally made similar salaries throughout the state. Those in Poughkeepsie earned above the median, however. They made $40,200 annually.
